As a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR therapist, I specialize in trauma and perinatal mental health.
Psychological Services
Are you struggling with issues related to trauma, phobias, anxiety, low mood, or major life changes? There comes a time when we need some help from a qualified professional to help cope with many of life’s challenges. I’m a registered Clinical Psychologist in Nottingham, and I’d love to help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.

Although I support individuals with a range of difficulties, my areas of special interest are trauma as well as mental health difficulties experienced in the perinatal period

I understand that committing to therapy can seem daunting. If you are unsure whether therapy can help, fill in my contact form to request a free, no-obligation 15 minute video or telephone consultation
Assessment and Formulation
Before accessing psychological therapy, both client and therapist need a clear understanding of the presenting problems, where these may have originated from, and what maintains them.

You will be invited to attend an initial 90 minute appointment to discuss your current difficulties. This will include discussing the past, present and future, in order to develop a joint understanding of your distress, your strengths, your goals, and what is needed in order for meaningful change to occur. This understanding is known as a psychological formulation.

If following assessment I feel I do not have the adequate knowledge or skills to support you, I am professionally obliged to inform you of this, and can signpost you to other more appropriate services.

Similarly, if following assessment you decide that you do not wish to access further psychological therapy, you are under no obligation to continue.

Individual Therapy
Research has shown that one of the greatest predictors of successful therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Important qualities of this relationship include sincerity, trust, and common goals.
In order for individuals to feel safe, there needs to be openness and honesty from both client and therapist, in order for trust to develop. I work collaboratively with clients, working alongside people to co-create change, with frequent reviews to ensure we are both working towards the same goal.
One of the many skills of a Clinical Psychologist is the ability to combine and integrate two or more evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Following your initial assessment and formulation session, I will work with you to create an individualised plan specific to your difficulties and preferences. I work with people to develop self-understanding and to encourage them to adopt new attitudes, feelings and behaviours towards life situations.
It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the individual and therapist alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behaviour and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

Please note, individual therapy sessions can only be booked following completion of the initial 90-minute assessment.
